Ernest Joseph Holman was born and raised in New Rochele, the only child of Virginia Godsey and Malcom Holman. He was raised by his grandmother until the age of 18. Living amongst his cousins and aunts and uncles, who were successful professional members of the community. Ernie (a name that others fondly called him) attended New Rochelle High School. His father died when he was 15 while his mother passed in 1995 at the age of 85. Ernie was always very proud of his becoming a marbal champion at the age of 12, published by the town newspaper along with his picture. This was one of many awards he would be acknowledged for pitching in baseball for Chase Manhattan Bank. He was also published in the company paper strking out many other teams giving them the edge to win championships. In addition he was also a dart champion in England where he was stationed while in the Air Force. He served his country in the Air Force for 10 years. Which is where he met his wife Jean Wilson while attending a NCO party in Manchester England. They were married in 1952 amongst Jeans friends and family. They were married for 50 years but separated after 20 years. Ernie and Jean had 8 children whom they both loved very much; and although separated, kept close relationships with their children over the years. Ernie and Jean also enjoyed being around their d 5 grandchildren in later years, who they loved very much. I especially want to acknowledge his first son Ernest J. Holman Jr. Who joined the army, and fought in Desert Storm and 911. A bronze medal soldier, now buried at Arlington Cemetary. Mom and Dad were very proud of him. My dad was a nice person, very intelligent, great cook, loved baseball loved to sing and always made people laugh. He was very energetic up until his 86th birthday. Dad passed away listening to Frank Sinatra "Moon River" which was he and Jeans wedding song. We miss him - Love You Always Dad..Lisa
